Yorkshire-based textile manufacturer Texfelt, which specialises in eco-engineered non-wovens and PU foam replacements, has celebrated record growth following a 20% increase in flooring sales despite a declining market.
The firm, part of the JR Group, credits this substantial growth to the £10 million investment in Texfelt’s Cutler Heights manufacturing plant in Bradford. This investment was pivotal in steering the company towards a forward-thinking, innovative direction and revitalising the underlay industry, leading to the creation of the groundbreaking Springbond® product, which is now a market leader in high-performance, fully recyclable underlay.
Since its inception, the flagship Springbond® product, made from 85% recycled PET plastic bottles, has prevented 60 million plastic bottles from ending in landfills.
As a result, Texfelt has secured several key partnerships with brands seeking high-quality products that minimise environmental impact. These partnerships have supported its growth in the UK and expanded its presence in international markets.
World-renowned hotel Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, is a key driver of Texfelt’s international success, enabling Texfelt to tap into the hotelier market and export its underlay products worldwide.
Other partnerships include Alliance Furniture, a leader in commercial furniture, and premium Dutch mattress maker Auping. Texfelt has also launched its underlay in Tapi, the UK’s biggest flooring retailer, further strengthening its presence in the UK market.
House builders such as Taylor Wimpey and Bellway Homes are also choosing Springbond® for its performance and environmental benefits.
Capturing market share from traditional PU foams, Texfelt’s ‘Foam Replacement’ continues to gain traction in the commercial seating market as industry leaders move away from foam solutions.
To support the firm’s growth plans, Texfelt has promoted Danny Shortall to Group Sales Director. In his new role, Danny will focus on enhancing the sales and marketing functions, engaging with customers across the full range of group products, and identifying commercial opportunities that align with the group’s values.
In addition to Danny’s promotion, Texfelt has made several key hires, including Business Development Manager Tony Bynon, to assist flooring retail partners and emphasise Texfelt’s high performance and sustainability advantages. Furthermore, Texfelt has increased the headcount of its European Sales Teams by appointing a multilingual Business Development Manager to improve service for its international customers.
Danny, Group Sales Director, said: “Our new structure has positioned us to future-proof our business and maximise opportunities both in the UK and globally. With our experienced team and the addition of new, highly motivated employees, we’re building a dynamic and driven workforce. As an agile business, we can adapt to changing demands and trends. For example, we’re uniquely positioned to lead the transition and become a market leader in foam replacement.
“As a company at the forefront of innovation, we recognise that customers increasingly demand products that excel not only in performance but also in sustainability. Texfelt meets this need by delivering solutions that outperform traditional options while advancing environmental goals.
“We’re excited about the future and confident that our strategic initiatives will drive continued growth and success within upholstery, mattress, and commercial seating sectors in the UK and worldwide.”
