The owner of independent furniture business Carroll’s Furniture has revealed plans to expand with a new store in Inverclyde.

David Carroll, who owns Carroll’s Furniture on St George North Church and The Sofa Warehouse by Carroll’s Furniture on Jamaica Street, both in Greenock, has secured a new property on West Blackhall Street, which formerly traded as clothing retailer Peacocks.

Plans are in place to refurbish the site and convert it into a large furniture store with 700sqm of trading space.

It is understood that the new store will open before Christmas later this year.

Back in August 2023, The Sofa Warehouse opened its doors after a £100,000 investment into the launch. The move saw the business stock all sofas through this store with furniture and beds focussing on its other Carroll’s location.
