Fit-out specialist grows profit despite sales dip

Specialist in fit-out, furniture, design and consultancy firm, Ultimate (Commercial Interiors), has reported a slight decline in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024, total sales fell 6.9% to £21.6m from £23.2m in 2023.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.2m, up from £271,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Sales for the year decreased. This fall in activity coincided with the transition period of the MBO and change of sales personnel manifesting in a reduction in enquiries for a couple of months, this is now back on track with the target turnover for this year.

“The Gross Profit Margin increased to 20% due to a better spread of projects undertaking furniture and overall improved cost management across the business. This has stabilised the company’s profitability in light of the fall in turnover.

“The showroom (The Hive) has continued to be refreshed during the year to present the ‘wow’ factor and continues to attract new business, garnering attention within the market sector.”
