Bottom line growth returns at textiles supplier

Clothing and home furnishings textiles supplier Behrens has reported a decline in sales but a growth in profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023, total sales fell 5.7% to £22.8m from £24.2m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £2.4m, up from £0.8m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said UK sales represented £21.7m, down from £22.5m year-on-year, while export revenues totalled £1m, down from £1.7m.

“There have been no significant changes in the company’s principal activities in the year under review,” the company said. “Our investment in automation and digitalisation continues to improve our efficiencies, allowing us to grow a number of areas.”
