London department store maintains sales and profit growth

High-end fashion and home furnishings department store Liberty has reported a growth in sales and a return to pre-tax profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 3 February 2024, total sales rose 6.7% to £123.9m from £116.1m in 2023.

EBITDA resulted at £11m, improving from £3.9m. Pre-tax profit stood at £2.5m compared to its year-end loss of £2.5m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said EBITDA remains behind the £14.4m generated in the FY20 period, which was the pre-Covid year.

Flagship store sales rose 15.1% to £75.4m from £65.5m, while online sales decreased 3.1% to £43.1m from £44.5m. Liberty branded products represented £37.3m of turnover, up from £34.1m, with other brands accumulating sales of £86.6m, up from £82m year-on-year.

“All product categories performed well within the store. Liberty branded products outperformed third party brands, with strong performance in accessories, home and beauty products,” the company said.
