Bespoke furniture firm liquidation leaves £600k shortfall

Bespoke furniture manufacturer Todhunter Davies has been placed into liquidation, owing creditors around £600,000.

Brett Barton, of BLB Advisory, was appointed as liquidator of Todhunter Davies Limited on 26 May 2022.

According to newly filed documents on Companies House, the Cheshire-based business owed preferential creditor HMRC just over £174,000, as well as employee arrears of £14,000.

As for unsecured creditors, a total of £410,000 is owed, with around half that figure being owed to Barclays and Funding Circle at £67,000 and £137,000 respectively. Other claims include a director’s loan at £25,000, trade claims of £16,000 and eight counts of employee claims valuing a combined £163,000.

It is understood there are no assets to realise at this stage with creditors expected to suffer a shortfall of £603,000.
