Outdoor living demand drives revenues and profit

Outdoor and indoor furniture retailer Whitehall Garden Centres has reported a growth in sales as profit surpassed £1m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 May 2021, total sales rose 32% to £17.4m from £13.1m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £6m to £8m, while pre-tax profit jumped to £1.1m compared to £63,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which operates three centres in Lacock Wiltshire, Whitchurch Bristol and Woodborough Pewsey Wiltshire, said that despite being closed for eight weeks due to Covid restrictions, sales were strong as demand grew towards outdoor living.

“Strong relationships with suppliers have been forged which will enable the business to be well positioned in meeting the growing needs of consumers,” Whitehall added.
