Homeware sales maintained positive on the high street for a third straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 10.74% for the week ending 30 March 2025.
Homewares total LFLs soared by +15.67% from a negative base of -0.32% for the same week in 2024, symbolising the tenth positive result for the category since the beginning of 2025.
Store homewares sales grew by +2.73% from a base of +0.13% for the same week last year, denoting the eighth positive outcome for the category since 2025 started.
Total store LFL sales rose +4.62% from a base of +3.21% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales skyrocketed by +16.72% from a base of +1.88% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “In a week that culminated with Mothering Sunday, retail sales grew across all segments and channels, with lifestyle leading across the board and online sales enjoying double-digit growth.
“The boost in lifestyle sales, both in-store and non-store, most likely reflects increased spending on items for Mothering Sunday celebrations.
“This week saw warmer, brighter weather with clearer skies, drier conditions, and sunny spells in most areas. This same week last year witnessed unsettled weather with periods of showers and heavy winds.”
Overall footfall climbed by +5.9% this week, the best outcome so far in 2025. Shopping centres led footfall growth this week with an increase of +6.2%, followed closely by high streets with a tick up of +5.8% and retail parks with a rise of +5.7%.
