Bed manufacturer grows profit in competitive market

Beds and mattresses manufacturer Dreamland Beds has reported a decline in sales but a growth in profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2023, total sales fell 22.3% to £10.8m from £13.9m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £906,000, up from £379,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Turnover and operating profit have decreased in the face of competitive trading conditions.

“Several businesses within the bedding industry have failed and more are still suffering despite an improvement in the economy as at the balance sheet date.

“Carefully planning and knowledge of our industry enables us to trade with the correct business at the correct times to ensure our future business stability.

“Competitive prices combined with improvements and labour efficiency resulted in an increase in gross margin from 30.08% in 2022 to 35.87% in 2023.”
