Sales and profit grow at independent retailer

Independent furniture retailer Cookes has reported a growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025, total sales rose 9.4% to £10.4m from £9.5m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £293,000, up from £83,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Sales order intake was up 10% on the previous year, a focus on cost control mitigated wider cost increases and margin has held.

“Investment in the product offer, the customer experience and the launch of a new website, have positioned Cookes well for further future growth. Technology continues to be leveraged to support our teams in delivering a market leading customer experience across every aspect of the business.

“The Cooke family and the wider team at Cookes, have been incredibly saddened by the passing of our Chairman, Graham Cooke. Graham dedicated his life to building and developing Cookes Furniture, into one of the finest independent furniture retailers in the country.

“Graham’s legacy of incredible success will have a lasting impact on the Cookes business, with his core values, shaping and motivating future generations of the Cooke family to continue and build on that success.”
