Homeware sales rose again on the high street for a sixth consecutive week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 4.23% for the week ending 10 August 2025.
Homewares total LFLs jumped by +25.60% from a base of +0.35% for the same week in 2024, marking the category’s sixth consecutive positive week.
Store homewares sales saw a boost of +20.22%, easily offsetting a poor base of -4.00%, marking the category’s third consecutive double-digit growth outcome and fourth straight positive week, while non-store sales for homewares saw its best growth outcome since January, jumping by +15.70% from a good base of +5.86%.
Total store LFL sales grew by +7.03% from a base of -2.17% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +3.38% from a positive base of +2.79% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Store sales were positive across the board, boosting total LFL sales and ensuring a third positive outcome in the past four weeks.
“Lifestyle and homewares also enjoyed healthy online sales, with the latter recording its highest result since January, whereas online retail for fashion dipped.
“This week started with the southern parts of the UK experiencing milder, drier, and sunnier conditions, while high winds and heavy rain caused by Storm Floris swept across the north at the same time, before becoming stable and warmer.
“The same period last year saw mixed conditions with the north being cooler and showery, while the south was warmer and drier.”
Overall footfall grew by +2.5% compared to the same week last year, as high street and shopping centres saw foot traffic rise by +3.5% and +3.0% respectively. In contrast, footfall to retail parks dropped by -0.1%.
