Irish furniture sales mixed in July 2025

Irish furniture retail sales showed an annual growth in both volume and value, although sales were down on the previous month.

According to the latest Retail Sales Index data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) for July 2025, furniture and lighting sales saw an annual volume growth of 5.9%. On a monthly comparison, sales fell 1%.

The value of furniture and lighting retail sales declined 1.8% month-on-month, while increasing by 4.5% on an annual basis.

Department stores saw annual volume fall 2.7%, while month-on-month was flat. As for the value, this fell 3.5% on a monthly basis, as well as down by 2.8% annually.

Overall, the monthly volume of Retail Sales was up by 0.8% in July 2025 and grew by 4.2% in the year when compared with July 2024. The value of Retail Sales rose by 0.9% in the month and up by 4.3% annually.

The proportion of Retail Sales transacted online (from Irish registered companies) was 4.9% in July 2025 and 5.1% in June 2025, compared with 4.8% in July 2024.
