Independent furniture retailer Bennetts Family Furnishings has announced plans to close.

Situated on Warwick Road in Banbury, the retailer will close for the final time on 12 March 2025, bringing an end to 35 years of trading, while its warehouse will close at the end of April.

The retailer said that the cost-of-living crisis and rising costs were key factors behind its decision to close.

Bennetts Family Furnishings, which has now launched a closing down sale, said: “After 35 years of successful trading in Banbury, we have decided now is the time to put away the marker pens and hang up the sale signs for the last time.

“It’s been a privilege to serve so many special customers, but, with the cost of living crisis and looming additional costs and taxes combined with an offer on our freehold the stars have aligned and allowed us to plan a successful exit from retailing.”
