Bensons manufacturing division posts lower sales

The manufacturing division of beds and mattress retailer Bensons for Beds has reported a decline in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2023, total sales fell 1.7% to £44m from £44.8m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.6m, down from £2m recorded the previous year.

Stated within the report, Bensons said: “Manufacturing activity has been robust during the period as our customer (its retail division) has experienced high demand for our manufacturing products.

“The company continues to navigate its way through supply chain delays on raw materials and cost price increases whilst offering value and high quality craftmanship on its products.”

As for the retail division, Bensons recently reported total sales of £257.5m, rising 7.5% from £239.4m 2022. Reported EBITDA profit resulted at just over £1.5m, significantly improving from its loss of £15.4m recorded in the prior period. Read more here.
