Boxed mattress retailer Simba Sleep has reported a growth in sales and widening losses.
According to the latest filed accounts ended 31 December 2021, total sales rose 57% to £105.2m from £67m in 2020.
Gross profit increased from £30.9m to £47.7m, while pre-tax losses resulted at £5.3m, widening from a loss of £2.6m recorded the previous year.
Stated within its report, Simba said UK sales rose 60% to £98.2m from £61.2m, while mainland Europe revenues increased from £5.3m to £6.2m. Sales outside of the EU rose from £519,000 to £707,000.
Simba said that it delivered its biggest ever sales quarter in Q4 2021, leading to its record sales, while overall sales were up 119% when compared to 2019.
The company added that it has sourced a new French manufacturing facility for its mainland Europe sales to further boost overseas markets, while investing in product development throughout the year.
