Chinese bedside crib rejected at border over safety concerns

A Chinese bedside crib has been rejected at the UK border after presenting a high risk of injuries due to being insufficiently stable.

The product, which originates from China and under the brand Hush By Venture, is described as a grey bedside attaching crib for a young child.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards stated: “The product presents a high risk of injuries because it was found to overturn at less than 30N in the rocking configuration.

“If a child’s parent/guardian expects a certain amount of force to be needed to push the rocker, it may overturn and therefore the baby may be ejected from the rocker, receiving injuries. The product also requires improvement to marking, labelling and documentation.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The import has been rejected at the border.”
