Furniture manufacturer Andrew Paul Furniture owed creditors over £2m ahead of entering liquidation.
Michael Roome and Jamie Playford, both of Leading, were appointed as joint liquidators of Andrew Paul Furniture Ltd, and sister company Stevenson & Key (Frames) Limited, on 9 July 2025.
The company, which is based on Meadow Lane in Long Eaton, saw losses widen from £146,000 to a loss of £342,000 in its most recent set of accounts for the year ended April 2023, while sales dipped to £14.2m from £14.3m.
It is understood that the company cited ongoing market volatility and falling demand, which led to the closure, bringing an end to 14 years of trading, while impacting over 170 jobs.
Detailed in newly filed documents on Companies House, the business owed preferential creditor employee claims £224,000, which is expected to be repaid from realised assets valuing £471,000.
Meanwhile the HMRC is owed is £300,000 and unsecured creditors are owed £2.2m, with a further £883,000 owed to employees.
Other claims include £54,000 owed to NatWest bank, £338,000 owed to the Royal Bank of Scotland, £38,000 to its landlord and £90,000 to directors.
Furthermore, £780,000 is owed to the trade, including £109,000 owed to Peter Cook International and £352,000 owed to United Fillings. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £2.2m.
