Danish furniture retailer eyes up another Irish store

Danish furniture retailer JYSK has earmarked a new location for a potential store in Ireland.

The retailer is set to file a planning application to Offaly County Council to change the use of an existing catalogue retail store to retail warehouse in Tullamore.

The store is situated on Tullamore Retail Park in Cloncollog and is a former Argos retail space, comprising a space of 15,000sqft.

According to initial plans, the changes would involve alterations to the internal layout and to increase the retail area on the ground floor through the removal of back office areas.

JYSK currently operates 24 stores across Ireland and recently applied to open another store in Cork.

The retailer submitted a planning application to Cork City Council for the development of a unit on the Blackpool Retail Park, aiming to change existing storage and office areas into retail spaces, with the installation of stairs.

This follows its recent opening in Ballincollig where the retailer created 15 new jobs for area.
