Danish furniture retailer gets green light for new Cork store

Danish furniture retailer JYSK has been given the green light for a new store in Cork.

Earlier this summer, JYSK submitted a planning application to Cork City Council to open its fourth store in the area on Blackpool Retail Park.

The plans propose converting Unit 2 Block B into a retail outlet. Cork City Council has now approved the application subject to a number of conditions.

JYSK currently operates from 21 stores across Ireland, including in Ballincollig, Youghal and Little Island, while also confirming plans to open a distribution centre in the country.

The application follows its recent opening in Ballincollig where the retailer created 15 new jobs for area. It is understood the new store would create around the same number of jobs.
