Electric blanket recalled from marketplace retailers due to fire risk

A king size electric blanket that was sold across a number of online marketplaces has been recalled over fire safety risks.

The Snuggla King Size Electric Blanket, which originates from China, is a white, king size electric under blanket with a detachable remote control, packaged in a red and white cardboard box.

The product was sold via Amazon, eBay, Etsy and TikTok Shop.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards stated: “The product presents a serious risk of fire and burns as it has been identified that the product is prone to overheating whilst in use. This could result in the product or the surrounding furniture catching fire, potentially leading to the consumer receiving burns.

“The instructions supplied were deemed inadequate and some of the required documentation/markings were not present. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

“The importer has recalled the product from end users. Consumers in possession of the affected blanket should stop using the product immediately and contact their place of purchase to seek redress.”
