Mattress brand Emma Sleep has reported record revenues of US$948m (€873m) and a year-on-year revenue growth rate of 35%.
The sleep company exceeded its own full-year revenue target of US$869m (€800m) in what was a turbulent year for the global economy. Emma also increased its profits during 2022, marking a fifth consecutive year of profitability.
Emma’s fastest growing markets were all located outside of Europe. In Asia-Pacific, Australia grew its revenues by 103% in 2022 compared to 2021. In North America, the strongest performer was Mexico, where Emma grew its revenues by 117% year-on-year. In South America, Brazil recorded a 62% increase in revenues in 2022 compared to 2021. In Europe, the Italian market grew its revenues by 80% year-on-year.
As part of its global expansion strategy, Emma started building a dedicated team for the Polish and Danish markets in 2022. Looking ahead, Emma will continue to increase its market share and diversify its offering in existing markets. Emma will open its first European store in February in the Mall of the Netherlands, close to The Hague. To underpin its global growth strategy, the company has ambitious hiring plans for its international hubs located in Lisbon, Manila, and Mexico City.
