Family-run furniture store John Pargeter & Sons Ltd, also known as Pargeter’s Furniture, has announced plans to close due to retirement.

The retailer, which is situated on the High Street of Stourbridge, has been trading for 99 years but has now called time after the owner, Miles Pargeter, decided to retire.

The company has launched a closing down sale and thanked its customers for the continued support over the years.

“After 99 years of operation as a family business, Miles Pargeter, owner of John Pargeter & Sons Ltd, has made the difficult and emotional decision to retire,” a statement said.

“Unfortunately, there is no one within the family who wishes to continue the business, which means our Stourbridge store will be closing once all stock has been sold and outstanding customer orders have been fulfilled.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our customers, many of whom have been part of our journey for generations of the same family’s, and people from all over the West Midlands who have supported our family business over the past 99 years.”
