Floor lamp sold via Wayfair presents electric shock risk

A floor lamp that was sold via online furniture retailer Wayfair has been recalled and removed from the marketplace over electric shock risks.

The Tilson 166cm Tripod Floor Lamp, which originates from Turkey, features a plug that does not meet the constructional or dimensional requirements of BS 1363, meaning the product presents a serious risk of electric shock.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards stated: “The user could receive an electric shock when inserting or removing the plug from the socket.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. Regulations 1994.

“The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Wayfair). Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately. Contact the distributor you purchased from to request redress.”
