Furniture importer beats expectations as sales rise

Furniture supplier Bentley Designs has reported a growth in turnover as profit more than doubles.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2021, total sales rose 14.3% to £18.6m from £16.3m in 2020.

UK sales were up 4.5% to £13.7m from £13.1m, while revenues within its EU division grew 53% to £4.9m from £3.2m.

Gross profit increased from £3.4m to £3.8m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1m, up by 122% compared to its profit of £450,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that performance was ‘above expectations’ due to the economy opening up after Covid-19 lockdowns and favourable exchange rates.

“The supply chain management remains a challenge and is likely to remain so at least or the next two years,” the company added, concluding that it will “continue to focus on product development, new innovative designs and customer service”.
