UK searches of furniture during March were highly driven by garden furniture for second straight month, while bedroom furniture and mattresses also stood out again within the sub-categories.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, seven days during March 2025 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at 10 days. The highest searched date was 30 March with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific brand terms that included ‘dunelm outdoor furniture’, up 350%, ‘B&Q garden furniture’, up 250%, and ‘the range garden furniture’, up 300%. Other popular terms included ‘2 seater garden furniture’, up 300%, ‘rattan furniture cushions’, up 250%, ‘dunelm garden furniture’, up 300%, ‘corner garden furniture’, up 200%, and ‘wayfair garden furniture’, up 250%. There were also other ‘garden furniture’ related searches from companies such as Maze, B&M, Tesco, Home Bargains, Argos, Habitat and Next.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded seven peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 23 March with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw OTTY, Relyon, Sleepeezee, Tempur, Simba, Bensons for Beds, Mattressman and M&S all perform strongly. The terms ‘king-size mattresses’, ‘top mattresses 2024’, ‘bed frames and mattresses’, ‘simba mattress reviews’, ‘top 10 mattresses’ and ‘affordable mattresses’ were all high breakout searches. Meanwhile, ‘duvalay mattress topper’ searches increased 70%, ‘premier inn beds’ searches and ‘how long do memory foam mattresses last’ were also popular searches.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded three days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The highest searched date was 15 March with a full score of 100. Popular brand searches included Very, Dunelm, Next, Dreams, Furniture123, M&S, Julian Bowen, Sharps, Neptune and Nolte. The terms ‘childrens bedroom furniture sets’ and ‘dreams beds’ were breakout searches, while ‘4 piece bedroom furniture sets uk’ searches rose 4,650%. Other popular searches included ‘wardrobe with drawers’ – up 300%, ‘tall chest of drawers’ – up 140%, and ‘white wardrobe’ – up 130%.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded four days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 30 March, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included Habitat, Argos, Homebase, Laura James, Soho Home, B&Q, Dusk, Furniturebox and Loaf. The terms ‘garden furniture’, ‘garden dining set 6 seater’, ‘aluminium garden furniture’, ‘outdoor dining chair’, ‘dusk dining table’, ‘faux leather dining chairs’, ‘laura james garden furniture’, ‘metal garden dining set’ and ‘kitchen and dining furniture sets’ were all high breakout searches.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw one peak day during the month. The most searched day was 3 March that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included Dunelm, John Lewis, Sterling Furniture, DFS, Cotswold Company, ScS and Furniture123. The terms ‘livingroom furniture’, ‘fitted living room furniture’, ‘corner unit living room’, ‘mirrored living room furniture’, ‘arm chair’, and ‘white gloss living room furniture’ were all breakout searches. ‘sideboard living room’ searches rose 90%, ‘living room cabinet’ increased 40%, and ‘furniture sets living room’ searches rose 40%. Other popular searches included ‘rustic living room furniture’ and ‘small side tables for living room’.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw four peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 23 March. Popular related brand searches included Sofology, Sofa & Chair Company, Made, Sofa Club, Parker Knoll, Arlo & Jacob, Fishpools and JYSK. Search terms included ‘outdoor sofa cushions’, up 350%, ‘rattan garden sofa’, up 350% and ‘garden corner sofa set’, up by 300%. Other terms included ‘garden sofa and table’, up 250%, ‘rattan corner sofa’, up 200%, ‘inflatable sofa’, up 70% and ‘made sofa bed’, up 50%. As for breakout searches, these included ‘2 seater sofas under £200’ and ‘discounted sofas’, while ‘slimline sofas for small rooms’ rose 140% and ‘crushed velvet sofas’ rose 130%.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw 14 days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 22 March, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw six days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 25 March scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included Ted Todd, UK Flooring Direct, Tapi, Wilton Carpet Factory, Asiatic Carpets, Castle Carpets, Peter Lee and Victoria. Popular search terms included ‘garden flooring’, up 70%, ‘lvt flooring meaning’, up 60%, ‘cheap lino flooring’, up 50%, and ‘peter lee carpets’, up 4,000%.
