UK searches of furniture during February were highly driven by garden furniture, while bedroom furniture and mattresses also stood out within the sub-categories.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, five days during February 2025 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at 10 days. The highest searched date was 15 February with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific brand terms that included ‘dunelm garden furniture’, up 120%, ‘B&M garden furniture’, up 250%, and ‘asda garden furniture’, up 250%. Other popular terms included ‘garden furniture’, up 70%, ‘ex-display garden furniture’, up 130%, and ‘ikea garden furniture’, up 100%. There were also other ‘garden furniture’ related searches from companies such as Argos, JYSK, B&Q, Habitat and The Range.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded five peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched dates were 2 February and 23 February with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw Mattressman – up 120%, Tempur, OTTY, Jay-Be, Sleepeezee, Mattress Online, Nectar, Vispring and Emma.
The term ‘best mattress for heavy people’ saw searches rise 250%, while ‘duvalay mattress topper’ searches increased 90%, ‘tempur mattress topper’ searches rose 50% and ‘premier inn mattress review’ saw an increase of 50%. Meanwhile, ‘small double mattress protector’ searches and ‘best mattress for back pain’ were popular searches. Another popular term was ‘fitted sheets for deep mattresses’, which jumped 1,250%.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded five days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The highest searched date was 8 February with a full score of 100. Popular brand searches included Next, Wren, Howdens, Bensons for Beds, Sharps, Dreams, Starplan, Roseland and IKEA. The terms ‘bedroom furniture packages’ and ‘girls bedroom furniture sets’ were breakout searches, while ‘cream chest of drawers’ searches rose 1,450%. Other popular searches included ‘toddler bedroom furniture’ – up 350%, ‘wooden bedroom furniture sets’ – up 300%, and ‘wardrobes for sale’ – also up 300%.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 9 February, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included Next, MADE, Furniture123, Dusk, TK Maxx, Furniture World, ScS, IKEA, Furniture Village, OKA, Dunelm and Housing Units. The terms ‘garden furniture’, ‘mango wood furniture’, ‘outdoor dining furniture’, ‘grey dining table’, ‘mango wood dining table’ and ‘dining table and bench set’ were all breakout searches.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw three peak days during the month. The most searched day was 16 February that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included DFS, JYSK, Matalan, John Lewis, Furniture Village, Argos and Next. The terms ‘sideboards for living room’, ‘living room table’ and ‘sofa tables’ were all breakout searches. ‘Living room furniture sets uk’ searches rose 130%, ‘living room wallpaper’ increased 110%, ‘floor lamps for living room’ was up 90% and ‘tv stand’ searches rose 80%. Other popular searches included ‘side table’ and ‘walnut living room furniture’.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw four peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 16 February. Popular related brand searches included IKEA, Sofa Club, Sofas & Stuff, SofaSofa, Arlo & Jacob, Leekes, Next, Sterling Furniture, Sofa Workshop and Sofas by Saxon. Search terms included ‘outdoor sofa set’, up 150%, ‘outdoor sofa’, up 130% and ‘outdoor corner sofa’, up by 120%. Other terms included ‘garden sofa set’, up 90%, ‘beige corner sofa’, up 60%, ‘l shaped sofas’, up 70% and ‘upholstery’ (as a topic) – up 80%. As for breakout searches, these included ‘boucle’, the colour ‘teal’, ‘high backed sofas’ and ‘sofasofa’, with the latter brand experiencing a rise of 4,300%.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw eight days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 22 February, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw six days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 3 February scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included Franks Flooring, Wickes, Brockway Carpets, United Carpets & Beds, Wayfair, Wilson Carpets and Rimrose Carpets – with the latter experiencing an increase of 3,650% in searches. Popular search terms included ‘flooring specialist near me’, up 250%, ‘wickes wooden flooring’, up 90%, ‘united carpets scunthorpe’, up 3,350%, and ‘wilson carpets rotherham’, up 550%.
