Homeware high street sales remain positive for eighth week

Homeware sales rose again on the high street for an eighth consecutive week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 3.55% for the week ending 24 August 2025.

Homewares total LFLs rose by +3.03% from a strong base of +7.18% for the same week in 2024, representing the category’s eighth consecutive positive week.

Store homewares sales grew by +6.75% from a solid base of +16.20%, marking the category’s sixth consecutive positive week, while non-store sales for homewares were negative for a second straight week, dropping by -3.20% from a base of -7.60%.

Total store LFL sales rose by +4.64% from a negative base of -0.88% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales climbed by +8.78% from a base of +4.74% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Strong fashion sales, both in-store and non-store, boosted total LFL sales this week, which closed with the Summer Bank Holiday weekend.

“Homewares remained positive in-store, while lifestyle enjoyed another week of healthy online sales.

“The UK experienced a mild and mostly dry week, accompanied by partly cloudy skies with periods of sunshine and light breezes.

“During the same period last year, the UK saw a mix of warmer and drier conditions with cooler and wetter weather.”

Overall footfall grew slightly by +0.6% this week, an increase spurred by the positive foot traffic on the high street (+2.8%). Retail parks and shopping centres, however, experienced negative footfall outcomes, with results dropping by -1.8% and -1.4% respectively.
