Homeware sales rose again on the high street for an eighth consecutive week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 3.55% for the week ending 24 August 2025.
Homewares total LFLs rose by +3.03% from a strong base of +7.18% for the same week in 2024, representing the category’s eighth consecutive positive week.
Store homewares sales grew by +6.75% from a solid base of +16.20%, marking the category’s sixth consecutive positive week, while non-store sales for homewares were negative for a second straight week, dropping by -3.20% from a base of -7.60%.
Total store LFL sales rose by +4.64% from a negative base of -0.88% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales climbed by +8.78% from a base of +4.74% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Strong fashion sales, both in-store and non-store, boosted total LFL sales this week, which closed with the Summer Bank Holiday weekend.
“Homewares remained positive in-store, while lifestyle enjoyed another week of healthy online sales.
“The UK experienced a mild and mostly dry week, accompanied by partly cloudy skies with periods of sunshine and light breezes.
“During the same period last year, the UK saw a mix of warmer and drier conditions with cooler and wetter weather.”
Overall footfall grew slightly by +0.6% this week, an increase spurred by the positive foot traffic on the high street (+2.8%). Retail parks and shopping centres, however, experienced negative footfall outcomes, with results dropping by -1.8% and -1.4% respectively.
