Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has confirmed plans to open three new stores after acquiring former Homebase sites.
IKEA has secured three locations at retail parks in Harlow, Chester and Norwich, with the plan to open new small-format stores with around 5,000 products on display, 3,000 of which available for immediate purchase.
IKEA said that it is “strategically expanding our UK footprint, with the aim of showing up in convenient, accessible locations for our customers”.
Peter Jelkeby, IKEA UK and Ireland chief executive, said: “Harlow, Chester and Norwich have long been areas of interest to us, and we’re looking forward to bringing the very best of the IKEA experience in a refreshingly compact format to these communities later this year.”
IKEA recently revealed plans to open a new concept store in York, while also confirming the opening date for its new Oxford Street store, which officially opens on Thursday 1 May 2025.
