IKEA submits plans for new Hull store

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has revealed plans to open a new concept store in Hull.

According to a planning application submitted to Hull City Council, IKEA plans to open a new Plan & Order Point (POP) outlet on Kingston Retail Park.

Stated in the documents, the proposal said it would “provide areas to sit down with a sales representative, along with areas to display samples of materials, colours, finishes etc”, adding: “When a customer has designed their kitchen and/or bedroom, the customer would pay for the fitted kitchen/bedroom chosen, which would then be delivered to their home address.”

The council is considering the application which relates to three illuminated advertising signs bearing the IKEA logo with no permission needed for the store use to change.

The closest IKEA store to Hull currently is a full-scale store in Sheffield, while similar concept stores are also based in Preston, Liverpool and Stockport.
