Independent carpet retailer suffers huge fire

Scottish independent carpet retailer Cambusnethan Carpets has suffered a devasting fire at its store in Wishaw.

The blaze broke out just before 10pm on 30 July 2024 at its store on Woodhall Road, Newmains.

Crews from the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene and remained there through the night and into the morning to extinguish the fire.

The building has been completely gutted by the blaze, while there have been no reports of any casualties. Three appliances were used to tackle the fire, with the cause now under investigation.
