After the colour of 2025 announcement, many Brits are looking to inject life back into their homes, as nearly half (49%) worry that their home lacks colour and personality.

Next year’s colour of the year which is ‘true joy’ – a vibrant yellow shade embraces this years trend of dopamine décor boasts 55.8 million posts on TikTok.

Due to this new announcement, interior trend experts are predicting the dopamine décor trend will continue gaining momentum next year. Since the 2025’s colour of the year announcement, UK Google searches for ‘yellow living room décor’ and ‘yellow kitchen accessories’ have been on a breakout over the last 30 days, rising 5,000%.

In a study carried out by online furniture retailer MADE, over three-quarters (77%) of Brits believe how their home is decorated impacts their mood, however many are too scared to make the plunge into decorating with wellbeing in mind. Over half (58%) worry that styling brighter colours will result in a room that’s clashing and too busy.

Here, MADE’s head of design, Ali Edwards advises how to embrace mood-boosting interiors, revealing which room works best for the trend, and why being brave with your interior choices can make all the difference:

“In recent years, our homes have become our sanctuaries – they’re intrinsically linked to our wellbeing, as we continue to spend time working and hosting from home. That’s why it’s so important to create a space that makes you feel good, whilst ensuring it’s a reflection of your own personal style.

“Dopamine décor relates to the idea that your interiors can positively impact your mood and, in turn, make you feel happier. Adding certain colours (and patterns) into the home like bright yellows, oranges and pinks, can leave you feeling more energised, whilst blues are said to help you feel calmer and more productive.”
