Northern Irish retailer grows sales above £50m

Northern Irish home furnishings retailer Harry Corry has reported another growth in sales as turnover surpassed £50m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 28 February 2023, total sales rose 4% to £52m from £50m in 2022, further adding to its growth of 7.9% from £46.3m in 2021.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £2.2m, down from £5.3m against the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “A stronger US dollar and substantial increases in the cost of freight made purchases more expensive whilst a slightly strong Euro had a positive impact on sales and this resulted in a modest decrease in gross margins of 1.39% to 58.72%.

“The profits were down on the previous year. The increase in sales due to being open for the two additional months was offset by the increase in operating costs.”
