Designer and manufacturer of outdoor furniture, Akula Living, has reported a slight growth in sales as profit declined.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2024, total sales rose 2.3% to £21.5m from £21m in 2023.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £4.1m, down from £6m recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said UK sales rose 77% to £1.3m from £733,000, while exports – its core business, fell marginally by 0.4% to £20.2m from £20.3m.
“The financial reported period started with an investment by Business Growth Fund (BGF) which took a minority stake in the business. The BGF investment provided a major opportunity to further invest in the growth of the business with the opening up of new geographical markets.
“As part of the investment, the company has cemented its position in the US and established bases in the Middle East, Asia, Mexico and more recently Australia, providing the company with the people and tools to continue its successful growth trajectory.
“We anticipate maintaining our growth trajectory and backed by our investor BGF, will continue to service our current loyal client base whilst seeking out new customers. The business continues to outperform many of its competitors.”
