Passmore Group completes acquisition of Yorkshire supplier

Leeds-based home improvement company, Passmore Group, has completed the acquisition of Yorkshire Plumb Supplies (YPS).

This is the business’ third expansion in the past decade, following its acquisition of Charms Bathrooms in Harrogate in 2017, and the opening of its 1,000sqft concession at Whiteley’s Garden Centre in Mirfield in 2019.

Yorkshire Plumb Supplies, an Otley-based kitchen and bathroom showroom, was founded in 2006 by Sam and Michelle Barghout. As part of the acquisition, Sam is stepping back to pursue other interests, while Michelle will be joining the group in a sales and design role.

Tony Passmore, company Chairman, said: “Our growth strategy is all about finding opportunities to expand our reach. For the past five years, Otley has been a key target for us, aligning perfectly with our central hub strategy.

“It’s essential that any business we acquire shares our core values, and YPS embodies that completely. Sam and Michelle have built a fantastic reputation over the last 19 years, and we’re honoured that Sam trusts us to continue their legacy.”

Sam Barghout added: “Our dream was always to keep YPS in the family, but the pandemic and changing economy made us rethink our plans. In 2022, we began looking for a new path forward. From my first meeting with Tony and the Passmore Group, I knew they were the perfect fit to take YPS to the next level. I deeply respect what they’ve accomplished and feel confident leaving the company I started in their capable hands.”

In the coming weeks, the group will be working closely with the YPS team, including fitters, contractors, customers, and suppliers, to ensure a seamless transition. There will be new branding to the exterior of the Otley based showroom and later this year, it will be integrating its core brands, More Kitchens, More Bathrooms, and More Ability into the business, while continuing to offer services delivered under the More Build and More Bedroom brands.
