Independent furniture retailer Peter Green Furnishers has closed its store in Chandler’s Ford.
A sign displayed in the window of the School Lane store states: “Peter Greens will be shut until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
Following the closure, the company ceased trading on Friday 24 May and has instructed Xeinadin Corporate Recovery as its nominated liquidator.
The business made several attempts to sell the company as a going concern but was unable to secure a sale ahead of ceasing to trade.
Due to the insolvency, all staff have been made redundant, bringing an end to its 68-year history.
“The retailer ceased trading on Friday 24th May, despite various attempts to sell the business as a going concern”, says Allan Cadman a Licenced Insolvency Practitioner with Xeinadin Corporate Recovery, who has been instructed by the directors to assist with the liquidation process.
“Peter Green had no option but to cease trading due to insolvency”, he advised. “Staff, who have regrettably been made redundant have been informed and advised of their rights and entitlements in person.
“We are handling queries from customers and other stakeholders and gathering information. Creditors will be notified formally very soon.”
Furthermore, John Pye has been instructed to take enquires for any interest in stock.
