Bed and mattress manufacturer Sleepeezee has reported a slight decline in turnover as sales remained close to £40m.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023, total sales dipped 0.7% to £38.7m from £39m in 2022.
UK sales stood at £36.6m, down from £36.8m, while EU revenues represented at £1.9m, slightly lower than £2m. Sales outside the EU registered an uptick from £135,000 to £156,000.
EBITDA stood at £1.5m, up from £931,000. Pre-tax profit resulted at £894,000, more than doubling from £404,000 recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “Retail performance was impacted by rising interest rates and ongoing economic uncertainty. However, the directors are pleased to report that net sales have remained consistent with the previous year’s levels.
“We achieved growth in independent shop floor models, underscoring our commitment to this important sector.”
Earlier this year, in May 2024, Sleepeezee was acquired by The Sleep Group, owned by H.I.G. Capital. The Sleep Group is also the majority shareholder of mattress maker Silentnight. Read more here.
