Technical nonwovens supplier AMR Textiles has reported a slight uptick in turnover as sales continued to climb towards £30m.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023, total sales rose 1.7% to £28.6m from £28.1m in 2022.
UK sales rose 1% to £27.6m from £27.3m, while exports to the EU increased 21.1% to £996,000 from £822,000.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £498,000, down from £2.4m recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company, which supplies polyester and natural products to the high-end furniture and bedding industries as well as various other sectors, said: “Margins remained volatile due to the usual variations in raw material prices, exchange rates and increased energy costs and showed a decline this year to 10.9% from 16.9%.
“The increase in overheads is primarily attributable to increased energy costs, increased management charges and bad debts written off during the year.”
