Restrictions impact fitted furniture manufacturer as sales fall

Manufacturer and supplier of kitchen, bedroom and bathroom fitted furniture, Kelvin KBB, has reported a decline in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 June 2021, total sales fell 35% to £6.5m from £10.1m in 2020.

Gross profit reduced from £2.9m to £1.7m, while pre-tax losses resulted at £1.8m, narrowing from £3.3m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the continued impact of Covid-19 and subsequent lockdowns restricted business, while recovery was also held back due to material, equipment and labour issues.

During this time, the business undertook a strategic review that resulted in a transformation program, from which the business has ‘emerged best placed to service the market as demand returns’.
