Retirement signals the end of independent after almost 130 years

Independent furniture, beds and carpets business Lewis Furniture has announced plans to close due to retirement.

Lewis Furniture, Beds & Carpets has been trading for almost 130 years in Staines, with its showroom situated at 131 High Street.

The company has launched a closing down and retirement sale as it prepares to close for the final time.

In a notice, the business said that opening times commencing 23 June 2025 are yet to be confirmed, while a final trading date is also dependant on the closing down sale.

A short statement said: “Lewis Furniture, Beds & Carpets is retiring after 129 years serving the people of Staines and surrounding areas. Grab a bargain now, when they’re gone, they’re gone! Opening times now vary. Please check our website or phone for details.”
