The UK division of US wholesale group Costco has reported a growth in turnover as sales continued to climb beyond £5bn.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 1 September 2024, total sales rose 6% to £5.3bn from £5bn in 2023.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £188.9m, up from £139.2m recorded the previous year.
Costco, which trades through a number of UK warehouses and online across multiple departments including home furnishings, said that sales were driven by an 11.3% increase in its core merchandise and warehouse ancillary categories.
Within its two main divisions, its online platform reported an increase in sales of 4.2% to £277m from £255m. Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.5m, improving from a loss of £751,000 the prior year.
As for its warehouse division, sales rose 6.2% to £5bn from £4.7bn, with pre-tax profit resulting at £187.7m, jumping from £140.4m the previous year.
