Sales down again at online home and lifestyle brand

Home and lifestyle ecommerce retailer Domu Brands has reported a decline in sales as well as seeing profit fall into the red.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 June 2022, total sales fell 20% to £45.5m from £56.8m year-on-year, marking a second consecutive year of falling revenues.

UK sales were down 16% to £41.5m from £49.5m, while EU revenues slipped 44% to £2m from £3.6m. USA sales were also down 45% to £1.9m from £3.5m.

EBITDA resulted at £2.8m, down from £7.1m, with pre-tax losses also amounting to £2.8m, down from a profit of £5.5m recorded the previous year.

The company, owner of home accessories, DIY and furniture brand VonHaus, said that the decline in EBITDA was mainly driven by sharp increases in container freight rates and land haulage costs, as well as UK port costs and the adoption of warehouse to manage overstock.
