Manufacturer of made to measure doors for kitchens, bedrooms and bathroom furniture, Browns, has reported a slight decline in sales.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023, total sales fell 6.3% to £10.3m from £11m in 2022.
Pre-tax losses resulted at £272,000, compared to its profit of £1.1m recorded the previous year.
Stated within its report, Browns said: “Gross margin has decreased marginally to 45% (2022 – 47%). The company has continued to trade successfully despite the challenges of a tough economic backdrop and the impact this has had on the market. The results reflect the hard work and high quality output the company and its workforce produces.
“We remain at the forefront of the UK Kitchen and Bedroom market and have continued to innovate in design and manufacture to ensure we deliver the very best to our customers. As we look to the future, we remain optimistic.
“We have invested significantly in our asset base which we believe will improve efficiencies going forward. We are confident that the investment will result in increased turnover and margin in future years.”
