Sales keep growing at department store Browns

Independent department store retailer Browns has reported another growth in sales as turnover surpassed £11m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 27 January 2024, total sales rose 5.5% to £11.5m from £10.9m in 2023, adding to its growth of 22.4% from £8.9m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £232,000, down from £699,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which trades from four locations in York, Helmsley, Beverley and Gainsborough, said: “New brand partners have been added to the merchandise mix available to our customers to enhance their product choice. This will help with sales growth going forward.”
