Seven chair models recalled due to fire safety risks

Furniture brand ByKallevig has issued a product recall on seven chairs after failing to meet the level of fire safety required.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued a recall on upholstered dining and office chairs including Laguna Office Chair, Futura Office Chair, Dinamo Office Chair, Evdano Chair, Wolfgang Chair, Wayner Chair and Diona Chair.

The products, which originated from China and have been delivered prior to 21 of March 2023, have been identified as presenting a risk of fire as they fail to meet the requirements of the relevant standard and do not provide the level of fire safety required. There was also no labelling.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

The products have been recalled from end users, with the recall stating: “These products are prone to setting on fire due to accidental exposure to flame (eg. from a lit cigarette) and as such, they are posing a danger to your home.

“Over the course of our recall procedure, we will provide you with a tested, properly certified and safe replacement seat completely free of charge.”
