Carpet manufacturer Brockway Carpets has reported a decline in sales and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024, total sales fell 12.4% to £17m from £19.4m in 2023.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £821,000, down from £2.3m recorded against the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “Demand in the year softened following the particularly strong previous period where the Covid-19 pandemic was still in force.
“The combined sales across the business’ two brands, Brockway and FloorLove, performed ahead of the market decline across most ranges.
“The reduction in gross margin (37.4% compared to 39.7%) reflects the start of the effect of a significant increase in energy prices which could not be recovered fully in the price charged to retailers.”
