When Barney Willis and Nigel Gambier started Willis & Gambier as a bed designer and importer in 1990 they could never have anticipated the growth of the pine furniture market. Within 8 years they had successfully taken control of 14% of the UK bunk bed market.

In 1998, the brand shifted direction and was repositioned into the premium furniture market selling wooden bedroom and dining room furniture.
