UK profit sinks at French furniture business

The UK division of French furniture and home decor company Maisons du Monde has reported a decline in turnover and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales fell 5% to £15.1m from £15.9m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £6.7m to £7.3m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £86,000, down 83% from £518,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the Covid-19 pandemic impacted its UK performance but added that the division is expected to return to growth.

“It is not possible to predict how quickly and to what degree this may happen,” Maisons said.
