Volumes down at fabrics supplier

Contract fabrics supplier Camira has reported a decline in sales as turnover fell below £60m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023, total sales fell 7% to £57m from £31.3m.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £554,000, down from £3.1m recorded the previous year. Gross profit margin decreased from 30.7% to 28.7%.

Stated within its report, the company said that UK sales were down 8.8% to £21.7m from £23.8m, while exports decreased 5.6% to £35.3m from £37.4m.

“The company saw some difficult trading conditions, sales volumes decreased overall in most geographical sectors,” the business said.

“The UK and European regions saw decreased volumes with the ongoing challenge of the suppression of the core contract market. The USA region also saw decreased volumes following pleasing growth in 2022.”
