Agnella by Brintons expands rug collection with the V&A

Agnella by Brintons, specialists in crafting premium wool rugs, has announced the launch of its latest rug collaboration with the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum): The Design Discoveries Collection.

Building upon the resounding success of the initial collaboration in 2023, the new 15-piece range remains a testament to their shared commitment to celebrating design, craftsmanship, and manufacturing excellence. The collection starts from £425 and is available to buy now at select stockists.

Drawing inspiration from an array of artefacts within the V&A collection, each rug design tells a unique story that reflects the rich cultural tapestry preserved within the museum’s extensive archive.

Ranging from the vibrant florals of dress fabrics from the 20th century to the detailed botanical wonders of William Kilburn’s watercolour paintings from the 1700s; and from the rich geometric design of tapa cloth from the Pacific Islands to the opulent appeal of Victorian paisley – each rug in the Design Discoveries Collection captures a moment in time, blending historical inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship.

Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons, comments on the collection expansion: “Given that the V&A archives are so vast, we knew from the project’s inception that we would continue to grow the range. In terms of design, we really want to embrace the breadth of history and style that the archives offer, so we have continued to source a wide-ranging selection of assets, looking at everything from decorative caskets to ditsy floral print fabrics.”

Amelia Calver, V&A Brand Licensing Research and Development Manager notes “Design Discoveries not only offers something for anyone seeking to add unparalleled style to their home, but also bears witness to the V&A’s original goal of inspiring designers and manufacturers. Nearly 190 years later, our mission is still to champion design and creativity in all its forms, and we are proud of the way this collection combines history with contemporary flair, offering something for every aesthetic preference reflecting the artistic influences housed within the V&A’s collections and, showcasing Agnella by Brintons’ craftsmanship.”
