Department store retail group Boyes has reported a growth in sales as turnover surpassed £100m.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 24 February 2024, total sales were up 8.49% to £101.7m from £93.8m in 2023.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £11.8m, up from £9.8m recorded the previous year. Gross margin remained “steady” at around 40%.
During the year, Boyes opened two new stores in Sutton in Ashfield and in Blackpool. Meanwhile, customer numbers increased from 11.9m to 12.6m, an uptick of 5.54%, largely due to new store openings.
Stated within its report, the company, which operates from 73 stores across the Midlands and Northern England, said: “The increase has been generated from expanding its estate with a full years trading in Arnison and Cramlington, which opened in September and November 2022 respectively and additional revenue from the two branches added during the year.
“Alongside this, the company saw growth in its core estate and overall a very satisfactory result for the year following challenges in previous periods due to Covid restrictions.”
